Selangor Dredging Berhad (SDB) has grown and established a leading position in the property sector in both Malaysia and Singapore since its maiden development in 2004. Even as a new developer during that period, SDB ventured into Singapore with its first development across the Causeway in 2008.

Fast forward to today — after 20 years of continuous success — SDB’s admirable track record encompasses 17 developments in Malaysia and 8 developments in Singapore, making it a total of 25 developments to date.

SDB Group Managing Director Ms. Teh Lip Kim was recognised as the Property Woman of the Year by the prestigious FIABCI Malaysia Chapter for her outstanding contribution to the industry.

One Draycott also achieved Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) CONQUAS STAR rating (which represents the assessment’s highest rating).

Over the years, SDB has been consistently ranked among the top boutique developers in Malaysia and Singapore through various awards and accolades, especially from the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Prix d’Excellence, FIABCI Malaysia Chapter, FIABCI Singapore Chapter, as well as The Edge Malaysia and The Edge Singapore.

These recognitions range from efficiency and quality workmanship to innovation and sustainability categories. They attest to SDB’s long-term growth as well as its progressive responsibility and care towards its homebuyer customers, shareholders, employees, community, the environment, and the nation.

Of late, SDB maintains its award-winning journey and solidifies its reputation as a renowned property developer. One of SDB’s more recent developments, One Draycott in Singapore, was awarded five awards during The Edge Property Singapore Excellence Awards (TEPEA) 2023. The five awards include a Sustainability Excellence Award, which highlighted One Draycott’s efforts to adopt sustainable construction and maintenance methods, such as using precast construction in part, harvesting rainwater, and using sensors for lighting to conserve energy.

Apart from its sustainability recognition, One Draycott also achieved Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) CONQUAS STAR rating (which represents the assessment’s highest rating). BCA CONQUAS, which stands for Construction Quality Assessment System, was introduced in 1989 to measure the quality of building projects. Since then, it has evolved to also assess processes and technologies to meet end-users' expectations. A higher BCA CONQUAS score reflects better workmanship, and developers that achieve the capped 95 score will be accorded the BCA CONQUAS STAR.

Another of SDB’s developments, Jui Residences, a waterfront development located along the Kallang River area, also won TEPEA 2023’s Landscape Excellence Award (for Completed Mixed-Use).

Additionally, Jui Residences was also the winner of the BCA Green Mark award in 2021. The BCA Green Mark award recognizes developers, building owners, and individuals who have made outstanding achievements in environmental sustainability in the built environment. Jui Residences was awarded the Gold Award due to its efforts in adopting sustainable construction practices that minimize the environmental impact of construction activities and implementing green features in the development.

The brainchild behind all of SDB’s achievements is its Group Managing Director, Ms. Teh Lip Kim. Owing to her success, Ms. Teh was recognised as the Property Woman of the Year for 2023 by the prestigious FIABCI Malaysia Chapter for her outstanding contribution to the industry.

This ‘Property Person’ personality award has been given annually since 1992, and Ms. Teh is the second woman to receive this recognition.

A trailblazer in the property development industry, her visionary leadership, commitment, and transformative contributions have not only elevated SDB to new heights but have also left a mark on the property landscape. As Managing Director, Ms. Teh was responsible for overseeing SDB’s operations, where she single-handedly transformed the company from tin mining into one of Malaysia’s leading and most recognisable boutique property developers.

Under her leadership, SDB has bagged 60 awards in total, reflecting the Group’s prowess in property development, contribution to society through various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and leadership in general.

These awards include 7 FIABCI Prix d’Excellence awards, 5 FIABCI Malaysia Chapter awards, and 4 FIABCI Singapore Chapter awards. Together, they serve as a testament to SDB’s driving force towards quality, excellent practices, and performances.
