The Pink Ribbon

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month where many NGO’s participate and encourage the public and organizations to wear the pink ribbon. Here are four ways you can reduce your risk of having breast cancer.

1. SCREENING
If you are above 40, yearly mammograms are encouraged as it can treat cancer especially in its early stages.
2. EXERCISE
Being physically active lowers, the risk of breast cancer and it is recommended to exercise daily for 30 minutes. Regular exercise would also help keep your weight in check.
3. DIET
A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is known to reduce a person’s risk of breast cancer, and to also limit smoking and alcohol consumption.
4. BREASTFEEDING
Breastfeeding is beneficial for the mother and baby, hence breastfeeding for a year reduces your risk and gives natural immunity for your child.
