MERDEKALICIOUS

Inspired by the Merdeka celebrations, many food outlets have created Merdeka-themed delicacies and concoctions. As food brings everyone together, try one of these and revel in the holiday atmosphere!

1. NASI LEMAK BURGER

A recent craze that is happening amongst fast food joints and restaurants is the Nasi Lemak burger. The burger comprises a fried chicken patty covered with a layer of sambal sauce, and includes a fried egg sprinkled with ikan bilis and peanuts and sandwiched between two soft buns.

2. SATAY TOAST

Instead of the usual satay sticks and ketupat, the satay toast is a mixture of meat marinated with spices and curry and placed on top a dry butter toast.

3. BANDUNG MILKSHAKE

A favourite among Malaysians and great to quench thirst is the Sirap Bandung. A different twist is to now top it up with creamy Vanilla ice-cream and turn it into a milkshake!

4. CHAR KUEY TEOW BURGER

The char kuey teow burger comes with two buns, and within it a fried egg filled with noodles, spring onions and spices and apparently, a must-try for foodies around!
